The Short VersionA Versão Curta

Born in Portugal, finished high school, skipped everything else. Started working at an accounting firm in the 1980s, became a journalist at Nova Gente in 1990, and somewhere between deadlines taught himself to code. In 1994, discovered the internet — and on an IRC channel called #Brasil on the Undernet, met Le. Two years later, they packed up and moved to Dallas, Texas.

Nascido em Portugal, terminou o liceu, saltou todo o resto. Começou a trabalhar numa empresa de contabilidade nos anos 80, tornou-se jornalista na Nova Gente em 1990 e algures entre prazos aprendeu a programar sozinho. Em 1994, descobriu a internet — e num canal de IRC chamado #Brasil no Undernet, conheceu Le. Dois anos depois, fizeram as malas e mudaram-se para Dallas, Texas.

On October 31, 1996, they launched RogerLe.com — a web hosting company that's still running almost thirty years later. Roger worked his way through Texas Instruments, Intervoice, FedEx, Cisco, RIM, and the Federal Reserve — all self-taught, all earned. In December 2019, they came back to Portugal. In 2024, they bought a Benimar motorhome and hit the road across Europe with Jolie, a toy poodle who has visited 23 countries and firmly believes she's in charge. The servers run from wherever they park.

A 31 de outubro de 1996, lançaram a RogerLe.com — uma empresa de alojamento web que ainda funciona quase trinta anos depois. Roger trabalhou na Texas Instruments, Intervoice, FedEx, Cisco, RIM e na Federal Reserve — tudo autodidata, tudo conquistado. Em dezembro de 2019, voltaram a Portugal. Em 2024, compraram uma autocaravana Benimar e puseram-se na estrada pela Europa com a Jolie, uma caniche toy que já visitou 23 países e acredita firmemente que é ela quem manda. Os servidores funcionam de onde quer que estacionem.
